Theodore Kaczynski, better known as the "Unabomber," is a convicted American serial killer and domestic terrorist. He was born on May 22, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Kaczynski led a relatively normal life until he suddenly withdrew from society in the early 1970s.

After earning a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan, Kaczynski became a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. However, he quit his position after less than two years and retreated to a remote cabin in Montana. It was during this time that he began his string of bombings, which targeted academics, scientists, and people associated with technological advancements.

Between 1978 and 1995, Kaczynski sent multiple homemade bombs through the mail, resulting in three deaths and injuring several others. His goal was to advance his anti-technology and anti-industrialization beliefs, which he outlined in a manifesto titled "Industrial Society and Its Future" or also known as the "Unabomber Manifesto." He demanded that a major newspaper publish the manifesto to stop the bombings, which eventually led to his capture.

In 1996, Kaczynski's brother recognized his writing style and beliefs in the manifesto, which led to his arrest. His cabin was then searched, revealing evidence linking him to the bombings. In 1998, Kaczynski pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is currently serving his sentence at ADX Florence, a supermax prison in Colorado.

Theodore Kaczynski's actions and motivations have sparked debates about mental illness, the consequences of technological advances in society, and the use of violence to promote social change. Overall, he remains one of the most infamous figures in American criminal history, known for his distinctive tactics and ideology.
